Keep Raintree Together

I grew up in Raintree and attended Godwin. This change would mean we could no longer walk to the school less than a mile from our homes. I strongly oppose this redistricting!

Raintree is a small concentrated area of homes. It doesn't make sense to bus children to two different schools and bus routes.

Irresponsible school redistricting breaks up communities. That’s the LAST thing people need.

Keep the kids together!!!

Our children will be devastated if they do not get to attend Godwin high school with their friends that they have grown up with their entire lives. It's just not right.

Why in the world would you want to split kids that have grown up together in a subdivision? Come on get real! We are not talking about huge numbers here! These kids are neighbors. Draw the line outside of the neighborhood. Will that really matter? Yes I guess if your goal is to even out school rankings.

Why would you even consider doing this???

I was thinking about the zoning proposals and voting in the election on Tuesday and thought how ironic it is that those living on Flintwood Drive will be voting at GODWIN HS—because it’s SO CLOSE! Does not make sense to zone this area for any high school other than GODWIN. If one county department can recognize that for voting purposes, the zoning committee should see the same thing!

It makes no sense to bus kids from Raintree four miles to another school when they can walk to Godwin. Keep kids from the Raintree neighborhood together at Godwin!

Why do the boundaries need to change? Who would benefit? Who would not?

I strongly support keeping the areasdefined as Raintree, Gayton Forest and Gayton Forest West districted together for elementary, middle, and high school. This is a geographic and relationship based community. Splitting it apart would do a disservice to the students and community as a whole.

Ludacris & ridiculous this is considered. Would be an embarrassing stain on the record of those responsible. Why steal from these kids & homeowners the benefit and experience of living in the neighborhood of your zone school? If you can hear the school band from your yard, that should be your school. People involved here bought their homes for that benefit (to be a close walk to school).

Our children attended Godwin. Now our daughter lives in the family house and grsnddaughter should attend Godwin which is within walking distance. Being bussed to a far away school makes little sense. It would curtail participation in after school activities like sports, chorus, debate team. Etc. As a professor of 34 years at VCU, I know there is more to education than just the ckassroom. Participation in extra curricular activities is vital to a more rounded efucation. All the chikdren of raintree subdivision deserve the same opportunities. I hope redistricting does not create the haves and the have nots. This is not setting a good example to our young people.

I would be a ridiculous act financially and from a community perspective, to split the Raintree/Gayton Forest neighborhoods into two different school districts. As a tax payer and resident of this area, I take GREAT umbrage with this proposal.
