Please do not split up the Godwin community, we have already had a split and I was apart of that and moved so I would be able to go to Godwin. This would be detrimental if we had to split up the community once again.

Proximity to a school should be the #1 consideration here. Students in walking distance of a high school should not be sent 30 minutes on a bus to one much further away.

Please keep all of Raintree in the Godwin District. Raintree is a community that is not divided by the creek being used as the proposed boundary. Raintree has common paths, a lake and swimming pool and the high school students can easily walk to Godwin. It doesn't make sense to bus kids who can walk to a neighborhood high school to another high school. Switching part of Raintree to Tucker will also increase traffic on an already congested Gaskins road during rush hour.

As an HCPS teacher, I understand the need for rezoning to accommodate class size changes etc. However, as a former Godwin student who purchased a home within walking distance from the school so that my children could one day attend, I am shocked at the lines the county has drawn which literally split the portion of The subdivision I live on into three parts. I urge you deeply to reconsider how this choice impacts the school’s surrounding community.

As the redistricting process proceeds, it is important to allow students living within a 1.5 mile radius (walking distance) of any given junior high/high school to go there, rather than being bussed somewhere else. This is an era of global warming and of obesity in children and teenagers. Walking is healthier than carpooling or bussing, cheaper and better for the environment. Those doing clubs or sports before/after school and without bus transport could walk as well, avoiding the need for extra carpools. And allowing high school students within a 1.5 mile radius of their schools walk would relieve pressure on the pickup lanes and parking lots.

The division of the Raintree neighborhood, splits us from our long established community,
makes kids who are less than 1.4 miles from school be bussed further away, and will have high schoolers drive 64 in heavy morning traffic to Tucker. Please reconsider the logistics of this plan option and it’s ramifications.

Please keep raintree in the same school district and at Godwin. These students walk to each other’s houses, walk to school, and carpool with each other to a school in their backyard.

All of Raintree can walk to Godwin. Homecoming Parade for Godwin runs through Raintree. Keep Raintree at Godwin.
