In two recent meetings--one in January and the other in February--the board voted on changing the meeting times. In January it was a 3-2 vote to keep the time at 6 p.m. (the proposal from Vance was to move it to 5 p.m.) and then in February one member, Vance, didn’t like the time remaining at 6 p.m. and asked to vote again. This time the board members voted 3-2 (Loperfido, Vance, and Rambo) to move it to 4 p.m. They did this knowing that the newest member, Jason Coldiron, would not be able to attend due to his work schedule. This time change also hinders the attendance of parents and community members—many of whom work until 5 p.m.
Several long-time Raceland-Worthington citizens state that for many years the board of education meetings were held at 7 p.m. Then they were switched to 6 p.m.and held then for years. Further, Kentucky statute requires that "All meetings of all public agencies of this state, and any committees or subcommittees thereof, shall be held at specified times and places which are convenient to the public."
We feel this change (for which the three board members voted) is a tactic to push the newest board member, the community voted overwhelmingly (top vote getter among the five candidates who ran for the two seats) to elect to represent it, out and to keep the public away from board meetings. It is just another political move--on the part of some board members--among many such moves since August 2023.
Thank you for your time and please consider signing the petition.
Sincerely,
Stacy Bradley

The board continues to ignore the obvious conflict created by a four o'clock meeting time. I am exhausted by the games being played with our access to transparency but I am not walking away from this fight.

Working parents and children who ride the bus cannot attend, even for their award ceremonies.
As a Raceland taxpayer and voter, I believe the board is changing the time to keep recently elected Jason Coldiron from attending board meetings.
In January they voted 3 to 2 keep board meetings at 6 p.m. February they voted again although it had been done in January. The first meeting in January is their organization meeting per the KRS. In the January meeting dates and time of the yearly meetings will be set. Once that has been voted on in January then any changes to any following board meetings that year will be special called meeting. Which means they can't change anything on the agenda. They can't discuss any other items.
For the working taxpayers of this school district 4pm is much to early for a school board meeting. Considering most people don’t get off work until 5pm. Someone wanting to change the time to 4pm just gives the message that you do not want the public to attend the school board meetings. Please enlighten the people who voted for the school board to explain why 4pm meeting would be in the best interest of the school district and the the tax payers. Alienating the people who voted for you is not a good look on the school board.
I was present during both these meetings… When Januarys vote didn’t yield the changes Mr. Vance wanted, he again placed it on the agenda for February flipping 1 voter to change the time to 4pm…. These meeting times should remain at 6pm. Our parents & community taxpayers should be able to attend when they choose to come. All of them are elected officials!! Our community voted Jason Coldiron to the current board seat. He should not be forced out by this shady time change. ESPECIALLY when meeting times have ALWAYS been fine beforehand… Jason works till 5pm like 90% of our community & parents.
I am a Greenup county resident and taxpayer who was thoroughly embarrased by national coverage of grooming and alleged sexual contact with teachers, officials and students and abuse of handicapped students. News of possible cover ups and payoffs with some parents is very disturbing. If there is an active fbi investigation, who is making sure it happening
We need you to run again Jane. You were great member of the board!
