Assateague and the other barrier islands are priceless and one oil spill will destroy them. We don't need the oil, but do need the environment (and the tourist industry it supports).
First of alloil and gas drilling isasking for a habitat catastrophy. Secondly, it is a sure way to drive away the Navy, space port and ocean freight commerce
The oil business is a dirty business. What lack of foresight is shown by drilling off the Virginia coast. Washington do not put our future in jeopardy by contaminating the very waters that sustain our lives.
With the BP spill and literally hundreds of fossil fuel leaks and spills, it is insane that anyone could support ruining the Atlantic Coast of this nation.
A coast on which a large population depends on healthy waters to ply their trade is not expendable! The last undeveloped stretch of the east coast should remain as such.
We don't need oil. We need a carbon tax. We need solar and nuclear energy.
