Our family has never experienced anything like Campus By The Sea. We have been both challenged and encouraged in our faith. It has become one of the safest places for our children to learn from the community of Jesus. Authentic. Truth-seeking. Loving. And Paul and Virginia are at the epicenter of it all. Their pursuit of truth has laid a foundation for this to happen. Golly, I could write a volume...

Paul and Virginia have a passion for families and most definitely impacted ours. Every single year leaving family camp, we considered it our "family reset" point. It gave us an encouraging push to remember what we were fighting for. We feel like we have lost a family member now, knowing we aren't going back.

Our kids looked forward to CBS family camp all year, from the moment they stepped off the boat until the moment we stepped back on the boat the following year. As parents, we loved the sound doctrine and biblically accurate teachings of the Friesen's, the guest speakers, and the staff. We are praying for the powers that be at CBS.

CBS Family camp under the leadership of the Friesens has been an amazing rich and spiritually recharging retreat for our family for several summers. We are all shocked and saddened by the news.

CBS Family Camp was a very important part of our family summer tradition for the last six years. We love this camp!! We look forward to this camp every summer because it was time for us to relax, bond together as family and grow closer to God. Every year, Paul and Virginia Friesen not only inspire us to grow closer to God but closer to each other as family. Please help us bring it back. We need this family camp!!!!

Worked on staff for a summer. Got to see "healthy" families. Made a big impression on me. Grew physically, emotionally and spiritually. So very, very sad family camp is no longer.

We have enjoyed family camp for 5 wonderful years. The first year we were invited by our dear friends the Bennetts. It was perfect timing. My husband had just returned home from his one and only deployment of 7.5 months a month before camp. It was the perfect way to reconnect as a family without the everyday distractions we face. My son cried when it was over and in an essay about the best thing done over summer break it was CBS. I believe CBS also made a HUGE impact on our family's walk with Christ. We are now even closer and have a Godly marriage. Each year seemed to speak to what we were needing in our spiritual walk. I know there are other camps out there but this one hold a special place in our hearts.

Our family has been able to participate in CBS for the past 3 years. Our time together there has been absolutely priceless. And in just a few short years, we will begin launching our four boys into college and beyond. We have been so blessed by the Friesens and their influence on our boys' lives. The thought of this camp, under their leadership and prayerful guidance, coming to an end has been heartbreaking and has caused us to seriously consider how we will attempt to replace it in our calendar, in our hearts, in our lives. But we have found nothing that comes close to comparing, and we are left baffled. The Friesens preach the Word of God and they encourage families to glorify and to enjoy Him in all of life. They hand-pick, train and mentor their staff. We've never met with a couple more dedicated to their service and to their mission of strengthening families. Our 14-year-old son was asked to write an essay for his entrance into high school next year. One of the questions asked him who had significantly impacted his life in the past years, and who did he hope to emulate. His answer was Seth, his camp counselor at CBS for the past two summers. Our son spoke of Seth's honesty and vulnerability, and of his encouragement and prayerful support. Surprisingly, another friend who was applying to the same school school and asked the very same question, also named Seth in his answer. This friend's family has attended CBS for the past 4 years. When our families realized that both of our sons had done this, unbeknownst to us, we were struck in a new way how radically we have all been impacted by our time at CBS. Our sincerest hope and prayer is that Intervarsity would reconsider their decision and welcome the Friesens back to their positions at CBS, allowing them to continue their work and to continue carrying on the legacy, begun SO many years ago, of encouraging, supporting, and equipping FAMILIES (moms, dads, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, hig

We've been a part of the CBS family since 1981. Paul & Virginia as well as Mel & Helen have mentored our family and have guided Peggy & I as well as our sons along a Godly path in this fallen world. We could camp anywhere in the world, but chose to spend precious time with Paul & Virginia as well as our grown sons. The saying "if you feel far from God...guess who moved" relates to "If you now differ from the theology and Godly teachings of Paul & Virginia...guess who moved." The have not budged...ever!

Although we attempt to use language to describe our feelings regarding CBS and the decision to terminate the directorship of Paul and Virginia, words cannot truly begin to describe our grieving hearts at the loss of such a powerful ministry.

Our family is grieving over the loss of the time and place we count on each year for our annual Christian marriage and family "tune up". Also, we can not see how this change could be good for CBS and IV in the long run. There are many, including us, who think highly of IV and encourage others to get involved with the organization simply because of their short time at family camp. Please reconsider!

InterVarsity family camps at CBS and the Friesen family, have had an enormous impact on our family and children's spiritual development over the years. I am appalled that these should be cancelled.

It is unconscionable to end family camps after 40+ years of faithful leadership, without legitimate reason. Paul and Virginia Friesen have been solid, faithful leaders in faith,in godly marriage & family, and champions of biblical values that are rapidly disappearing in our world. It is foolish and short-sighted, and--dare I say-- absolutely wrong to end the treasure that is family camp. Shame on you, InterVarsity. Please reconsider.
