The TVA board officially rejected the proposed twenty-year sunset clause and maintained the grandfathered status for existing floating houses. We have secured the legal protection for these residences and will continue monitoring the updated management plans to ensure full compliance with this decision.

Please sign this petition in support of the rights of all non-navigable and floating house boat owners on Fontana Lake as well as on all TVA reservoirs.
Recently TVA recommended dramatic changes to the regulations concerning these houses. The unreasonable proposed changes most notably include a twenty-year sunset period that requires the removal of all homes at the cost of their respective owners. This removal even applies to the pre-1978 grandfathered homes!
These changes are unfair and we are asking for your support in requesting the TVA Board to reject the proposed regulations, to grandfather in all existing compliant non-navigable houseboats and floating houses and also to find more common sense solutions in the regulation of these family-friendly floating communities. Many families use these floating homes as a way to spend quality time with their loved ones, while also enjoying the great outdoors.
In addition to the effect on individual homeowners, local marinas depend heavily on the business generated by these floating communities. These changes will clearly have a devastating effect on economies associated with these marina operations. An economic affect that is in conflict with the original intent of TVA's charter and mission.
Please don't stand idly by while TVA's new regulations negatively impact regional communities, the livelihood of marina operators and the quality of life of families who enjoy and appreciate these beautiful lakes. Join us and sign the petition today. Thank you!

We are approaching one hundred signatures which serves as the primary metric for our initial presentation to the TVA Board. I am finalizing the formal letter for their review so please increase the momentum to ensure we cross this threshold before the meeting starts.

Our houseboat has been in our family since 1956. My dad bought it when he was 16 years old. It is a place of peace where 3 generations now have shared. We respect the lake and its beauty and have looked forward over the years to passing this tradition on.
Please don't take our floating Houses away ,We look forward to our weekends away .You will be taking away people's lively hood & the county revenue will have a hugh impact. Houseboat owners buy gas ,food ,supplies that give economic boost to the area
We don't have a floating home but have a lake front home. The floating homes were the reason we loved Norris lake the first time we came over 25 years ago. They are a wonderful vacation and hope they can stay if they are maintained right.
This is clear government and regulatory over-reach! These homes are amazing and have no more impact on the environment than any motorized houseboat. Perhaps even less impact given the absence of a motor and generator. Crazy over-reach! Greg
Please don't punish the whole TVA floating house community just for the arrogance and ignorance of a few. Please focus on where the real issue is....and note the wishes of the Tenn legislature please in regards to their recent decision to oppose this.
Floating homes don’t restrict navigation, they are moored in marinas their waste is pumped out, provide a way for middle class to own lakeside homes instead of the rich owning all the lakeside land. Next will the TVA forbid marinas ???
As long as people comply with upgrading floats etc., TVA should not be allowed to take peoples cabins out of the water. They are moored in a Marina and not obstructing anything.

Implementing the sunset clause will be devastating to our economy. My background is accounting and I truly don't think anyone has done a thorough economic impact study on this. I plan to attend the meeting in May to fully discuss my concerns.
