Removing music from education is the beginning of the demise of education. How do you expect to enjoy new music if we are not teaching it at a young age. Keep music in schools, it was one of my most cherished and happiest classes that I remember as a child.

Mrs. Bass's class was not only important to teach music, but it showed the meaning of community service with caroling in the winter time, teamwork when it came to the semi yearly concerts and assistance with the drama club, and how to be a good sportsman when it came to competitions. The awards and placements I won in her classes went to my college application along with the community service I assisted with in her class. Her recommendation meant a lot to the schools I applied for because she has been a teacher for so long and that's something that no teacher can replace. Mrs. Bass isn't just a teacher, she's a wonderful person to the community, to her students, and to her family. This is something that any high school would be crazy to give up.

To rid the school of a music program is unacceptable. The arts have flourished in Laporte for many years, and it all starts in Elementary School with Mrs. Bass! Her devotion to the school’s arts programs has been unmatched. The absurdity of this decision is unfounded.

I was not heavily involved in the music program my whole education but I believe it should stick around! It’s an important aspect of education and Mrs. Bass is the best music teacher around!

As an Alumni of Laporte & having gone to Laporte ALL of my School Years this Saddens me. Students need to have the Choice to Decide what Classes they want to take. I personally choose Art Classes, but I know so many Students who excelled in Music & needed Music to Express Themselves. This Small Town has already lost so much, why take the Classes Students ACTUALLY Enjoy away!?!? I’ve seen Kids whose Home Lives were hard take Mrs. Bass’s classes and found their way, without her & her Guidance these Students could’ve had bigger problems in life. Music is a way to Relax & to Find Yourself. Students need this! This is when they learn who they’re and what they will be Good at! I’ve seen kids with Special Needs feel at home in the Music Room with Mrs. Bass, for those Students it is Never Easy!! Music should be a Choice of the Students. Laporte’s Enrollment will Drop & more Students will either go to other Local Schools or Homeschool, where they can Choose! They have a Right to Choose!

I think this was a horrible decision. I believe the Laporte School district will lose many kids because of this decision. It make actually be the beginning to an end for Laporte.
