We oppose the proposal of splitting PHS counselor Mr. Minh Tran between Marshall and PHS. Mr. Tran services far more students than he is assigned because he is committed to the success of all PHS students. In addition, as the Puente Project counselor, GCA counselor, National Honor Society advisor, California Scholarship Federation advisor, and Varsity Golf Coach he is essential to PHS in a full time capacity.

Splitting the counselor will short-change the students and families at both campuses. Mr. Tran's job is all encompassing and cannot be divided. It is this type of decision that drives people away from the public school. In times of declining enrollment we should be supporting the staff that bring in families, keep students engaged, and encourage success. We strengthen the school by shoring up outstanding staff and we weaken it terribly by attenuating them.

Please do not finalize this proposal and keep Mr. Tran at PHS full time for all of the students!

We are approaching one hundred signatures and this count will be a key piece of evidence for the school administration. Please forward this link to local stakeholders to ensure we hit that threshold before the upcoming budget review meeting.

Mr. Tran helped my two children going to good universities, and he led my third child to choose appropriate courses in his senior year and encouraged him not to give up. Every time I visited him, he welcomed me and spent much time discussing about my children.

PHS Class of 2016, Varsity Golf member. Please keep Mr. Tran at PHS full time. If his time is split, he will not be able to maintain and build upon his relationships with the students he works so hard for. He will best be able to help students to success if he can focus on the students he knows.

Mr. Tran is not even my son's counselor and he has helped us so many times because our counselor was not responding and helping us with important issues. He is so important to the success of our school.

The District's disregard for PHS students is truly astounding. To remove a counselor at the start of the college app season...unbelievable. Mr Tran has been with many of our students since 9th grade. Who is better suited to guide them through an already stressful process. Shame Pasadena Unified!

Mr. Tran has helped me and my two sons more times than I can count. He even responds to e-mails long after school hours and on weekends. He gave my son Tanner, class of 2016, wise counsel when my son would not take our advice. Mr. Tran is the one who solves the kids and parents problems.

Mr. Tran has been a wonderful teacher , friend and counselor of all 6 of my children. He has guide all of them the college . I have 4 college graduates one sophomore and one senior at PHS. I think PHS students would miss out on a wonderful opportunity if he leaves
