We have 2,200 homes in this community. $50,000 annually to keep a manned gate is $24 a year per home. Sign this petition to keep a guard at our gate. Invest in our safety and security.
I honestly never thought the momentum would pick up this fast but here we are and it really feels like the neighborhood is finally waking up to the fact that our safety is actually worth more than a cup of coffee a year. It is wild to see everyone talking about the gate now when just a little while ago I was worried maybe I was the only one who cared about keeping that guard on duty.

As a widow and senior citizen, security was one of my top considerations when choosing a community. The $24ish/year savings is not worth the security gained by 24/7 manned guard station.

I want the 24 hour guard gate service - instead of the expensive Islandwalk weather station the Board approved without a vote ... and never disclosed the true total costs.

We have always felt like the security of 24 hour manned security is superior to any technology. Please know that we do NOT want to save $2/month to give up a nighttime manned security gate. We walk our dog at midnight sometimes and never feel insecure with our current manned security.

Small price to pay for 24 hour security. Full time at IW but also am gone 3-4 months. Like having security for house while gone. Plus, main gate only access can be awkward. Am OK paying additional for the service if necessary.

I briefly lived somewhere with the virtual attendant and basically anybody and everyone was let through and most without checking with a homeowner if not on the approved list. Concerned this will lead to 24 hr virtual attendant.

Having a guard full time was a factor in many of us choosing to buy and reside in this community. The potential minuscule savings per household is not worth the risk in decreased security. Please do not institute that which has been proposed.
