I learned French from my parents at home. Our public schools didn't allow French !I still speak French when I can find another person who speaks French.

Learning a language from a computer is a good way to get started but it can never replace the interaction with a real person. I know, I've tried it and it only gets one halfway there. The interaction with a sympathetic person is essential in the language learning process.

The warmth and charm Ms Collins brings to the classroom can not be experienced with a computer program. The student teacher relationship is vital to producing students who are well grounded and proficient within each skill set. These children will gain much more from human enter action with a teacher whose native language and heart is French.

Erath is fortunate to have a French speaking program by a Belgian native and should do whatever it takes to keep Madame in her place. A computer program cannot bring life experiences and world travel to light, only a person can be so accomplished.

It would be a sad day for your students were you to let this fine teacher go or to cut your French program in this way. Studies show that students who learn a second language are also strengthened in other subjects areas as a by product, studies show.
