Keep lightweight events in high school rowing. It is fun, competitive and gives students like me a chance to compete and win.

You would discourage young girls from rowing. Shame on you!

This is a stupid idea and will destroy rowing. It will get rid of the larges part of high school competition.

Removing LWT categories may change the sport for those athletes from competing to just participating. A LWT rower is bound to lose interest in a sport where they are not competitive. You will decrease membership with such a change. The time and financial commitment to the sport isn’t warranted when you are potentially doomed to failure by such a rule. There are months of dry land training before any high school rowing begins. That is enough time to determine if a weight class can be safely achieved. Perhaps rules regarding monitoring weights with regular weigh ins throughout the season should be proposed to ensure the safety of these athletes instead of just cancelling their forum for competition. Natural LWT rowers will be affected by this rule, having never been at risk to make weight. This potential rule change is discriminating to them.

I can't believe this is actually being considered-aren't 70% of all oarsmen/women Lwt.

Many high school rowers are lightweight. A life long love of rowing can begin in high school. So important to keep this category.

Getting rid of lightweight rowing seems incorrect.

The races done by weight needs to stay. All athletes need to be even and it needs to fair across the board. They should be providing the reason why and proving the points for the change with validation and experience.

don't loose this division. These rowers work hard to be there and totally qualify for it!

Do we need to keep this category healthy for the athletes, yes. Removing it would be a lack of leadership by rca and close the door for many current and future members.

Keep light weights. Kids grow at different rates and the lightweight category has a place.

When physical activity, discipline, self-motivation and good sportsmanship are more needed now than ever, this makes no sense.

I have a 20 year old university lightweight rower. Can’t imagine There not being a lightweight category.
