My son is a lightweight. This makes no sense. Please do not eliminate U19 or any lightweights

Eliminate lightweight rowing in Canada and you eliminate over 40% of the events from the CSSRA high school rowing championships. You eliminate the next generation of coaches, You eliminate the next generation of mentors. You eliminate future regatta volunteers. You eliminate the development of recreational and masters' rowing. You eliminate the future of rowing in Canada.

This is ridiculous! How could "lightweights" possibly compete in an open weight category?! Do not make lightweight obsolete for U19.

Of course you need to keep lightweight rowing, this is about fitness and fun. All kids, all sizes, need to be included.

I was a lightweight rower in high school. I wasn't the biggest guy out there so it was nicer to compete against guys my size. The little guys can get intimidated by the bigger guy and may never join in the first place. Rowing is a great was for all kids to get involved in sports. Rowing is great for getting in shape and help boost their self-esteem. Without rowing some kids may never try to get in shape because they feel they can't, with rowing everyone encourages everyone to improve. It's a great environment and if you are taking that away, these smaller kids are loosing this great opportunity.

I’d be surprised if most schools could even put together a mid weight team. This is unfair

On a number of levels, this is a bad idea. Not only would membership levels greatly decrease (important to government funding both federally and provincially), but weight-class rowing contributes talent and loyalty to member-clubs, during and long after their athletic careers. Often these athletes find success and happiness in rowing where other sports can not satisfy, and loyalty to rowing continues as donors, fundraisers, on to governance, officials and umpires. Please reconsider!

Isn't high school about developing lifetime fitness habits? Removing the lightweight category would discourage a large number of young men and women from participating in and developing what could be a lifetime love for this fantastic sport.

removing lightweight rowing in high school would discourage and exclude a large group from a fair opportunity to compete.

As a parent of a lightweight rower it would be so disappointed to see this category removed. She has enter her senior year and is very much looking forward to competing in the lightweight category.

This rule change would kill rowing in Canada.

Should keep in high schools absolutely. I guess no light weight in university either than. No experienced people!?!?!?
