This church has been a great local resource serving the community far beyond it's function as a religious sanctuary. Randy has been creating arts events for years, providing educational opportunities, and working diligently to use the facility as a resource for the community. I have had the pleasure of running our local plastics recycling events there, and the facility has made it so we are now a well oiled machine. The vision for this space, of maintaining it as a non profit in support of community, education and arts , is a great one and it'd be a shame to toss out this opportunity

This lovely place in a sweet location deserves to be shared by the community.

Thank you for your question ! It seems that most everyone here has agreed that keeping this property and facility open to the use of the neighborhood and community into the future for gatherings and events, social activities and educational purposes, as well as nourishment for the soul and body, is the best and essential use of this property long into the future. No politics here.

I will sign this petition… AS SOON AS someone is clear as to the application to which this facility will be committed. I am seeing indications of something political, which would be an insult to the original church dedication in my opinion.

I'm sorry to hear your opinion, and would question how you come to this conclusion ? This petition does not request funding or financial support in any way. I believe I've shared my own views on the reasons for this petition and others have concurred and support this cause. With a possible sale of my church to a private family for below market value, I want to express my serious concern for this transaction. I see from the Oregon Statutes and the IRS restrictions on dissolving nonprofit property, there are potential fines that I want parties on both sides of this sale to avoid. For over ten months, our church council has not been able to resolve this transaction. It has been my feelings that our property should be transferred to another nonprofit organization who can maintain the property for local community benefit. To discover the thoughts of citizens in our area, I've circulated this petition and received well over 120 responses that strongly agree and are in favor of keeping our church property open for public functions and a vital part of our community.

It is regrettable that a church which has meant so much to the life of the surrounding community may not be preserved. I feel that every effort should be made to preserve this treasure.

Sadly this petition is misleading and inaccurate and a complete misrepresentation of the truth. Please do your due diligence before signing onto something or donating to this person or their “cause”. It’s unclear what the motivation is for the creator of this petition and the non profit they are working but it’s sad to see them misleading others for their gain.

My husband and I have attended several community events in this church building and find its acoustics in the chapel, the kitchen and the grounds excellent for many uses. Keeping this superb resource alive and available to the community is vital, especially in these challenging times.

One last comment. We do not live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have no idea how that came about. We still live near Eugene.

Was getting ready to make a contribution toward saving Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. I then noticed the contribution they are asking does not go toward this effort, but toward the people who make the petition available. It looks like people trying to save Good Shepherd do not see this money. Be careful.

We were married in this church 43 years ago by Pastor John Dinsmore. We would not like to see it go away.

With the shortage of resources in our community, it would be a crime to lose yet another faithful partner that serves the good of so many!
