Keep French an available language to learn in the BHPS district! Although students may not be able to pursue French in high school, this should not force the rest of the district to shut down French as a subject entirely.

  • French is spoken by over 80 million people and in over 29 countries.

The district is staying quiet for now but we are preparing to present these signatures at the next board session. Reach out to your school board representative today to tell them why keeping this program is essential. Post the link to this petition on your Facebook feed so they see the public is watching.

I have enjoyed French class since I started in 7th grade. I had already switched from Latin, which got canceled after my 6th grade year. Changing language classes is a pain, and I wouldn't want any other student to have to switch languages part of the way through.

Although I don't take french, I am still supporting this petition because kids who take french, take it because it interest them, and it wouldn't be very kind to prevent kids from learning what interests them and making a teacher lose her job!

Please keep French language as an option. Of the 3 available languages, Italian and French is head to head as for current students (13% each in GLHS) and cutting it for "lack of interest" is not justified. There is interest and it should be supported. Education opportunities is not where the school should be trying to save money.

French is a vital part of our academics at GL- not only is it the language of diplomacy and so much of the world’s literature, philosophy, theology, and social thinking, it is also so closely aligned to latin that it builds essential vocabulary for the SAT/ACT. Keep French in our schools.

From the mother of an impacted student: a language needs to be learned over time, one can not simply just pick up, drop and pick up another language and move on. These who elected the language for a reason. I am asking the district to reconsider the evaluation from the lens of students’.

I went to CMS and GL and took French at both schools. This program was so useful it is so disheartening to hear after graduating that the program is going away. Please keep French alive at BHPSNJ schools!

Why do we have Italian when we kick out French? Italian is only spoken around Italy but French is spoken in France, Africa, Canada and some other places. It's unfair to remove French
