It's tempting to look at people who don't perform "crucial" tasks as just meaningless expenses, but that's just simply not the case. Learning community secretaries are so much more than just someone to mark down appointments and file papers--they offer advice, kind words, help students through bureaucratic nonsense. While it's true that there are a number of adults students can go to for help or advice, few have as much experience, or have access to as much information as the LC secretaries do--they're an invaluable resource for everyone from freshman to confused parents.

Without LC secretaries CRLS would not be the same, it would in fact be a tragedy to replace such kind, caring, loving people with electronics. How can you substitute electronics with the heart and soul all of the secretaries put in each and every day? I know for a fact that the computers are not going to go out of there ways to check in with kids just to see how they are doing each day or lend a helping hand at all. I am pretty sure if the budget can afford four brand new high tech computers, they can afford to keep four staff members. If they exchange a friendly smile each day for a computer that will not work itself, CRLS is undervaluing the importance of having students encounter that one adult they know they can always go to in their time of need.

CRLS' LC Clerks/Secretaries are very helpful, and are always so nice. Especially at the beginning of the year when I just started school at CRLS, they really helped me feel at home and gain some confidence on my first days of high school.

At the school committee meeting tonight, I saw the disregard with which these clerks are viewed. Several school committee members claimed that they do little more than perform administrative tasks, and are not an effective use of tax money. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have never met a clerk as dedicated and involved in the community as Berhan.

Berhan is an integral part of the School R community, and the soul behind it. He goes above and beyond in his work, and I believe he genuinely cares about each of the students. The school secretaries are the connection between students, faculty, and families at home, and to give this responsibility to a computer would in many ways mean the loss of strength in these relationships. Please do not undervalue the importance of human accountability, and the importance of having adult figures around the school that are invested in students' well-being.

Jeannie knows me by my name finally (4th year's the charm)!!! Despite what many think, the secretaries at CRLS are really important to our wellbeing. They keep everything organized and are such an important part of the CRLS community.

The secretaries are a huge part of our CRLS community, we're always talking about community values and equality. Berhan and other secretaries do so much more than attendance, and they should be as valued as deans, teachers and students in our community.

dfnjlsdbflas Berhan isn't even my LC secretary but he's amazing! he always has a bowl of welcoming fruit in his office and is an advisor for the Yearbook club! without him it would not function the way it does now
