I am part of Learning Community S. Throughout the years, my LC secretaries have been there for me, whether that be in the form of helping me get a buss pass, tracking down a teacher, or just being there for a friendly check-in. They, and all the other secretaries at our school are incredibly organized, helpful, and caring. I am confident that if we reduce the number of secretaries in each LC, CRLS will become exponentially more chaotic and impersonal-- those are two qualities not representative of our beloved high school. Lets fight to keep our secretaries, we truly need them!

The world does not run on good will folks. The school spends too much, exorbitantly. We all know it. The people you see working the front desk are only a fraction on the staff in each learning community. The responsibilities of a secretary that can not be done by a computer can easily be done by other. Do not be scared of computer folks. Change is scary, but don't let that be a reason for irrational decisions. You make the choice. Would you rather have classes be cut resources that were once available gone, or the good ol' computer, the invention we have all come to love.

When I was in seventh grade, I had my first class at CRLS. I still remember arriving early to school, and going into the school S office, where I was greeted by not only a couple deans, but also by secretaries (this was back in the day, so it was Donna and Carol in the office). They not only became a familiar face, they also became people who supported me during this intimidating time of taking math classes with students grades above me. I have continued to pursue advanced mathematics throughout high school, but without Carol and Donna there for me every morning, letting me sit in the office and talking to me when very few other students would, I don’t think I could have continued on my path in mathematics. The CRLS secretaries contribute the school and students’ lives in ways that could never be anticipated, and for this reason, I know that we need to keep the secretaries. Even after 6 years, I have not forgotten what they have done for me, nor do I believe I ever will. They played a big role in me doing something that changed my life forever, and for that reason I will be forever grateful.

Berhan in LC R has been one of the most important adults in my experience at CRLS. He cares about how I'm doing, makes life easier for family and even gives me fruit if I happened to miss breakfast. Our secretaries contribute more than a computer ever could. I cannot imagine Rindge without them, please keep our secretaries!!!
