I rely on the LC Secretary to have two way communication with my daughter's school. The secretary has been my main point of contact and an advocate for my daughter when issues arise. The secretaries foster a sense of community that cannot be provided by a computer.

It's true that many times we need to interact with Learning Community and having a person to talk with is absolutely critical.

I would like to find a way to stop getting the erroneous absent/late calls; I'm always relieved to have them to call when my son has been marked absent or late and in fact he is there and on-time.

I talk to Berhan more regularly than anybody else at CRLS. He helps our family stay connected to the school, and on track. It would be a terrible mistake to cut these jobs.

The Learning Community Clerk is invaluable in insuring that the attendance records are correct and that the students are known and supported. We get countless incorrect absent or tardy robot calls that the clerk then corrects. A computer will mean that a person will need to step in to correct the errors. Considering how strict CRLS' policy is about attendance (and a possible F looming), it is crucial that a person, NOT a computer, handle this. A person can think, talk and correct.

I am part of learning community S. The secretaries I have encountered care about their students and act professionally. Don't make the mistake of cutting a necessary and professional staff from their job at the school.

Without secretaries, the learning communities will be extremely unorganized. There is a need for them in the community. Not to mention that of all people in our learning communities, they tend to get to know students extremely well. Taking away the secretaries will create a large gap, and will cause many problems over time. This is not the right decision.

Cut the secretaries? Are you kidding me? CPSD overspends because money isn't being spent wisely. Removing loving, caring, respectful, amazing secretaries from CRLS isn't going to solve anything. In fact, it's probably going to make many students and families angry. There are so many other places where money could be cut, where money could be used more wisely. For example, the art work in/on the building. It may look appealing to some, but was that really a smart way to spend money? There are hundreds of artistic students at Rindge who would have gladly given up their artistic skills for FREE to beautify the school. Then again, the school committee and administration fails once more! Fortunately, the City Manager (and I believe City Council?) do not have to accept the budget if this change of secretaries persists. KEEP BERHAN!

Berhan in LC R not only fulfills the necessary, tedious secretary work in his job description, but goes above and beyond to really get to know the student body and cater to their needs. I personally have felt throughout every year here at CRLS that he goes out of his way to make me and others feel like more than just a number in such a large school. He and other house clerks help foster the true essence of "community" our school strives to uphold.

The clerks and secretaries make CRLS the great environment that it is. Without them, there would not be the familiar faces that I know and love in my Learning Community, that I look forward to seeing, and feel comfortable approaching with any issue.

My parents may not have remembered the names of my or my sister's teachers over the years, but if there's one name they'll never forget, it's Donna DiTucci. What an amazing woman!

Honestly, how is this even being considered? Personally, I think this would be an awful idea even if we knew it would work. But having a smooth and efficient technical system at Rindge that could take the place of kind, loving, and inspirational humans like Berhan? Now thats just funny. And we all know that it would break down and crash within a week of it beginning, and it won't be fixable. Just like the rest of the technology at Rindge. In addition the secretaries and clerks are just as important to the high school experience as teachers and guidance councilors are, acting as the grease that makes everything run as well as it does, or at least better than it would. Are the teachers and concilors going to be turned into computers next? One of the most important factors of a high quality, meaningful education is quality human interaction. By firing all of the secretaries, the student body's entire education and future would suffer. And lastly, lets be real here. There are lots of places that we could cut the budget other then in necessities. But this isn't the place to argue those politics. Do NOT mess with what works and is necessary, or else yall are about to have a very pissed off student body. Which no one would enjoy.
