Keep Clive Craigen at Moody Bible Institute

Great professor and very valuable teacher. Sparked passion in many of the students I knew at Moody.

As a ministry leader on the south side of the city for 15 years, Clive has been an invaluable partner to us and liaison with Moody. Having been involved with the urban cohort on the community side, I agree that his presence is greatly needed on campus and in the community.

I've talked with a great many Moody students over my years of involvement with Moody. Over and over, students have shared with me the deep influence Professor Clive Craigen has had on their lives, including their commitment to serving the marginalized and vulnerable both overseas and at home. Dismissing Professor Craigen would be a great loss to Moody, it's activity in the city, it's missions commitment, and it's student body. Please reconsider this decision. Clive was a great Urban Ministry professor when I attended Moody. I think that Moody looses a great asset in letting him go.

Clive is on the forefront of the quickly changing landscape of missions and ministry please allow him to continue to be the one to pioneer a path forward for future missionaries and ministers at Moody.

I took "Intro to Disciple Making" with Craigen and thoroughly enjoyed the course and his unique teaching style out of the Moody professors I was privileged to learn from. Not only did I enjoy my class with him, but he is one (of two) reasons I stayed at Moody. Urban Cohorts gave me hope and belief in Moody as a whole. My opportunity to join urban cohorts has drastically changed how I perceive so many things - too many to list here. I believe the loss of Craigen would be a severe loss for Moody and the repercussions will be seen and felt within the Moody community - especially international and minority students. I hope and pray that the group whoever made this decision will notice the impression Craigen has not only had on students and the city of Chicago, but the impact for the Gospel.

Moody can't afford to take a step that would cause any further sense of disconnection or discrimination!

MBI owes a great debt to professor Craigen and his loss would be tragic.

Clive Craigen is of essential value to the Moody community and it would be a tremendous loss to the school if we were to let him go. Clive inspires and encourages students to share the gospel to all people in all that they do. He is deeply rooted in the city of Chicago and is a prime example for how God calls us to love and dwell with the people around us. Students would be at a great disadvantage if they were unable to glean from his intelligence and develop their understanding of cultural competency and what it means to be a follower of Christ within the world.

I had him for Intro to Disciplemaking and he is a great product.

Loosing Craigen as a prophesor will be a great loss to Moody’ and especially it’s student body. More than just a teacher he has been a spiritual leader to myself and many other. Please don’t let him go.

I graduated from Moody. I am a white male. I renounce Moody’s history of white supremacy and will denounce it further if it chooses to continue to care more about “old white donors” than the makeup of the human race before it.

Craigen was by far the most impactful prof I had at Moody. His lessons were practical and godly. He mentors many. Not only does he teach and vocally stand for social justice, he puts his lessons into practice in his own life. He is an advocate of the disenfranchised and has helped innumerable students get involved in social justice movements/programs in Chicago. Everything he does is steeped in prayer and done in an effort to model Christ. As a white student from the suburbs hoping to learn how to fix poor people, he slowed me down and taught me how to think through societal issues and get involved in appropriate ways, as opposed to the "white savior" mentality that I had. Recently I heard someone say that one distinct goal of the Christian in any context is to be a "contemplative peacemaker". Craigen embodies that more than most people I know. Noone else at Moody instilled in me more than Craigen that daily life is ministry and that ministry should not be isolated to a vocation or hobby.

As an international student Mr Craigen has been very willing to come along side me in my time of transition to Moody. The impact he has on students is one that is long lasting. I pray that the renewing of his contract will take place not because of petitions but through MBI recognizing his value.

I have been so blessed by this man of God. Moody needs more teachers like him.

There isn’t a professor on campus who spends more time with students than Clive Craigen. Firing him is a signal that discipleship, urban ministry and living out the gospel isn’t valued at the Moody Bible Institute.

As a representative of an organization seeking to include people from different cultural backgrounds to engage in global Gospel work, I know firsthand the dangers in talking about diversity, creating a role, and filling that spot just to check a box. It is not enough to speak about multiculturalism, we are called to embody neighborliness. Professor Craigen does just that: embodies neighborliness. He loves and serves those who are overlooked, and teaches others how to see and do the same. Professor Craigen's love for the Lord is what fuels his ministry. All of the work listed here is ministry. Professor Craigen desires to see ALL God's people flourish, so that those who do not yet know God may come to know Him. Why would we hinder this Gospel advancement? A tremendous loss for the Moody community, and a shame for future students to not receive his wisdom through instruction, if his contract is not renewed.

The person of Professor Clive Craigen is irreplaceable. There isn't anyone like him on the campus of MBI and therefore his contribution would be loss. He's the future of Moody not the past.
