First they starve the restaurant by allowing hot food downstairs and now this. I feel like burning my library card...Oh wait.

Did the City forget about The World Carha Hockey Tournament which was rated one of the best ever! All because of the camaraderie of all the countries to meet before or after the game. All the best times of that tournament alone was at Chilly Willies. Let me remind you we also have Bringadoctorhome Bursary Tournament there, which is another positive gathering for a great cause... Should I go on!

Having worked at the John Rhodes community centre for over 7 years, I have seen first hand the multitude of families that depend on this restaurant on a regular basis. Anyone who has ever played sports or has had their children in sports can surely understand the importance of having a readily available place to eat when you're spending an entire night or even weekend at the arena. It also is important to say that the John Rhodes atmosphere is certainly not appropriate for that of a library and by choosing that location, we would not only be shutting down a local business but also making a change that could be detrimental to the fan base of our local hockey teams.

family and friends meet there to watch hockey and other sports and to have a bite to eat.A library in a sports centre...don't be telling athletes and fans to shhhhhhh...not gonna happen...bad bad planning there...doesn't take a rocket scientist.....stupido

I can just see it now at the next hockey tournament. ..quick kids after the game when you are starving we can read a book instead!!

Keep Chilly's Open and for some reason this does not happen . I think all my fellow hockey players and I will refuse to use this facility.

I can understand the importance of libraries...I love to read too! However, I do think there is a time and place for them. And this is not one of them! Having worked there for three years, I have seen how important of a place it is for all families. They bring their kids in before gymnastics,after swimming, and during hockey games. It is a place for kids to watch heir siblings play and for families to unite and cheer on their kids' teams. It is a huge asset for out of town teams on tournaments as they don't have to go far to eat and watch thier competition. And as for late night skaters, we love it too! We play and then go up for a drink. It brings teams together and helps us get to know each other and the teams we play. All in all, I think it is a great environment that should stay exactly where it is.

I think it is wonderful for the library to move into a city-owned building to save rent and to expand services. Many cities have already found community centres to be a good place for library branches – Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Ajax, Niagara Falls and so on. The city should not be in the business of subsidizing bars and restaurants. Perhaps there is a better location for Chilly Willy’s that is not subject to the ebb and flow of business from hockey fans.
