The school board has yet to acknowledge our concerns regarding the proposed boundary changes. I am currently compiling a formal letter to present our neighborhood perspective directly to the representatives in charge.

The response to this petition has been overwhelming and reflects the clear sentiment of our neighborhood. This momentum confirms that our proposal to keep our children at Glenkirk Elementary is a priority for the community.

Please do not rezone. My oldest attended Glenkirk and now my young one. Glenkirk has been the school for Broad Run Oaks children and should continue to be. It is not our fault nor our childrens that the county decided to OVER build residential areas instead of commercial. Now we have to rearrange our lives and our childrens lives because of poor planning. Rezoning will only cause over crowding at Piney Branch as more homes are currently being built in that area. I am against the rezoning.
My home in Broad Run Oaks backs up to Glenkirk, from the backyard I can actually see the school. The thought of sending my child to a school further away seems ludicrous to me when I can basically cross the street and have her safely learning in less than 5 minutes. I staunchly oppose the proposed removal of our children from GES not only because of the close proximity but also 3 of my 4 children have attended this school since we moved to the Gainesville area. I was happily looking forward to see my youngest spend her elementary school years at the same school as her brothers and sisters. This is not only a rezoning issue. This proposal affects relationships and the established sense of community that all of BRO residents have spent years cultivating at the school.

I understand overcrowding at Glenkirk but what happens to our kids when the new development across from Gainesville Middle is finished and Piney Brook becomes overcrowded. I bet our kids will be relocated again and that could be 2 reboundary moves within maybe 5 years. Someone needs to investigate this more.
