Show me one school district that is as large as ours where it has been successful. The students have voted against this over and over.

Things should stay the way they are now. Did you read how many school hours athletics students will actually miss because of the later schedule interfering with after school sports?

I actually believe the science behind starting school later, but our district cannot afford this at this time. We had a budget freeze this year and will be lucky to squeak the current budget through. WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS.

Unless appropriate start times can be implemented for ALL ages and unless the community as a whole is in agreement with any change, start times should not be changed!

Changing the school start time is absolutely unnecessary and will not help students get any more hours of sleep or less stressful schedule. If things are pushed back an hour like extracurricular activities and homework will be done an hour later and we will in turn go to bed an hour later ending up at the same amount of sleep. That seems to be the biggest issue with this is the board of ed members believing that we will get more sleep and this is a false statement. What they really should be focusing on is the amount of homework that is given out at the schools. I often times come home to have anywhere from 2 to 4 hours of homework and that’s just on average sometimes it can add up to even more. School start times should not be changed and homework amounts should be reviewed instead.

Shortening the time for after school activities will have a significant NEGATIVE impact to MANY high school students. Will create MORE STRESS!

Amount of homework is the biggest factor in amount of sleep for high school students.

Ask the kids - they would rather have more time after school for activities, homework, etc

Please keep the start times as they are. High school students need to learn how to manage their bedtimes, screen time, hw and activities. Those issues won’t go away with a later start time.

I have 3 children in the school system and one that has graduated through. I truly believe the early start time for high school HELPS them grow up show responsibility and prepares them for life!

The board of ED needs to re think the decision it made. Considering every poll they cast was unanimous in keeping school start times the same.
