Please keep school starting time the same. The earlier time for elementary school kids is so unhealthy!

Ridgefield does not have the leadership or money to do this. Dont change the start time!

Sounds like this is the right thing to do for health, but at what cost? My kids' ped even talks to them about getting enough sleep. But can Ridgefield afford this? How much will it cost? It will be more. We should start with offering healthier food in the cafeterias and more recess. And getting those young kids home earlier so they can get outside and move. Teenagers should just take naps. That's free.

Ridgefield BOE is forcefeeding their agenda regardless of an overwhelming majority opposed to changing start times from residents, faculty and students. Im standing up to the vocal minority.

I actually agreed with this until I read Daniel Pink's book 'When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing'. He did a lot of research on the topic, and found that simply starting high school after 8:30 led to decreases in car accidents, decreases in substance abuse issues, decreases in depression, and increases in both attendance and graduation rates, among other benefits. I think we look at the short-term challenges associated with a change like this without looking at the bigger picture, long-term benefits that could result. Does anyone else have research that shows the status quo is better? I don't see any in these comments...
