As the communities of Kea'au and surrounding areas continue to grow, our population would greatly benefit from the construction of a swimming pool in Kea'au. The nearest county pool is at least a 20-30 minute drive (longer for Mountain View and Volcano residents), we live in one of the fastest growing areas of the state of Hawaii, and we're the only Big Island community without a pool. The schools within our community could utilize the pool for sports teams as well as physical education and live-saving swim instruction. Community residents could use the pool to better their health and as a place to spend time with their families. A swimming pool in Kea'au would be a valuable and beneficial addition to our community.
