The county just confirmed they have approved the site and funding for the Kea'au swimming pool. We pushed and we won this for our kids and our families. Keep your eyes on the project timeline to ensure construction begins on schedule.

Final supporters
As the communities of Kea'au and surrounding areas continue to grow, our population would greatly benefit from the construction of a swimming pool in Kea'au. The nearest county pool is at least a 20-30 minute drive (longer for Mountain View and Volcano residents), we live in one of the fastest growing areas of the state of Hawaii, and we're the only Big Island community without a pool. The schools within our community could utilize the pool for sports teams as well as physical education and live-saving swim instruction. Community residents could use the pool to better their health and as a place to spend time with their families. A swimming pool in Kea'au would be a valuable and beneficial addition to our community.

I am currently compiling our signature list to present to the County Council during the next budget session. Please email your district representative today to demand they prioritize funding for a Kea'au swimming facility. We need to keep this pressure steady until they give us a firm commitment.

I am the parent of a "Malibu Seawolf" competitive swimmer.I have seen how awesome it is to have kids get scholarships to colleges because they are such amazing swimmers. Give these kids that chance!!!!
Absolutely, a pool would be an amazing resource for Puna in general. They're clearing acres of land for more houses in Keaau, find the money!
Need a 2nd public pool for Puna....25% of the island's population lives in Puna and Pahoa is a long way for folks in b Upper Puna. Keaau is perfect!
Please heat the pool! Otherwise it will be just like the one in Hilo nobody uses because it FREEZING COLD all the time.
We really need a pool for our young people and athletes, but also for our aging population to stay moving and flexible

The number of people using the Pahoa pool proves that a pool in Keaau is needed. Communities next to the ocean have a responsibility to provide a place for keiki to learn how to swim.
