Even though Mr. McKinney was freed from prison over 30 years ago with only a $75 check (that he couldn't cash for months) after being wrongly convicted, he still believes in a higher power. And after being denied exoneration by the Tennessee board of parole (exoneration will afford him over one million dollars in compensation) he still believes God is in control and has no bitterness. He was released 7 years ago after serving 31 years. Governor Haslam refuses to exonerate him and he must be exonerated before he can be compensated.
