East Cobber's, we can't just sit on our hands and continue to let Cobb County change our neighborhood into High density, traffic jammed, over populated suburbs. Our quiet enjoyment will cease to exist. This intersection is already a rush hour nightmare and without expanding Shallowford road, will only continue to be worse. Please speak out against this zoning request. We are asking everyone to sign this petition, write letters to their commissioners and to show up in opposition to the zoning meetings. Sept. 8th is the planning commission meeting and Sept. 2oth is the BOC zoning hearing, both at 9:00AM. The more people that show in opposition the better our chance of stopping yet another high density development.
"CalAtlantic Group Inc. is proposing a revised plan for 83-home subdivision in Cobb County which includes 52 single family homes and 31 Townhomes.
The project sits on 31 acres on the south side of Shallowford Road, west side of Johnson Ferry Road and east and west sides of Waterfront Circle.
The property frontage on Shallowford Road is comprised of 10 parcels that are zoned LRO (low-rise office, which are those houses turned into businesses) and R-20. The frontage along Johnson Ferry Road is comprised of four parcels that are zoned NRC and R-20. FLUM classifies this property as a Neighborhood Activity Center with low impact intensity. In other words, low density.
Homes would range from 2,800 to 4,000-plus square feet. Townhomes would sell for between $525,000 and $650,000, and single-family units would sell for $650,000 to $750,000, according to plans filed with Cobb County.

The increase in support has triggered a formal request for a meeting with the district commissioner. We are currently finalizing our presentation of the zoning impact data to ensure our position is clear during the upcoming hearings.

This development is a horrific idea, to everyone except those pocketing profits from this project. Traffic and school infrastructure is obviously at or over capacity. Look at current data, a vote for this development and rezoning is a vote against logic and conscience.
Our commissioners have lost sight of why we moved to Cobb to begin with. We must stop the high density and make them adhere to their own plan - FLUM - Future Land Use Map. I pray Mike Boyce will lead the way to a more balanced picture of growth!
Please do not build this community. Our roads are already horrible and this will be insanely congested to an already congested intersection. We will have issues with buses to Pope HS, Hightower Middle School, Shallowford Falls.
Please! Please! No more high density development! Single family homes, ok, but not condos. I pay taxes here too! I've invested in this area and the education for my children. Please, my elected officials, please help me protect those things. I do vote! Thank you.
The roads and schools are already jam packed. This area can't handle any more people. And what is so wrong with a few acres of woods. Build us parks and I will be the first to volunteer to keep it up. But PLEASE no more MacMansions of any type.
This area is already built out and will negatively impact the surrounding area who specifically moved there for the current zoning density. We don't this high density development messing up our community.

Z-68 will make this Bad traffic situation even Worse. First the Kroger Gas station then SD at Childers with only a 3 car deep Left In turn lane and now this. This is Nuts!!! Looks like no one at the County is controlling the "Common Sense Gate!"
