This petition is a request to the Symmes Township Trustees / Administrator to reverse the decision to hold a potentially hazardous, in-house, closed room meeting of the July 6, 2020 Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) and use the online meetings system that has worked so successfully in the past.

  • The person-to-person, in-house BZA meeting was demanded by the representatives of the Indian Hill village and the Indian Hill Shooting Range in lieu of a safer, online meeting venue.
  • It is ‘OK’ for the Village of Indian Hill to hold their meeting safely online .. not so the residents of Symmes Township.
  • No safety precautions have been published (per: Symmes Township website) regarding the way this meeting will be safely conducted.
  • This petition, with your signatures will be forwarded to Symmes Township Trustees (Ken Bryant, Jody Leis, Phil Beck) and the Township Administrator (Kim Lapensee).
  • A number of the concerned residents who would like to contribute to this process are senior citizens. There is simply no justification for exposing these individuals to this risk, when an alternative online system is readily available.

Note: Several posts to the website suggest this technique of demanding unsafe public meetings is now a common technique used to limit opposing voices when controversial issues are concerned … This has not been verified for Symmes Twp.

I would llike to "Hear" that the noise from the range is terminated. I was in Vietnam during the 1968-1969 time period in the field artillery and the gun fire is very stressing to me.

Especially when the zoning changes are going to cost the township residents money and have a life style impact this should be a public meeting. I am a senior citizen and cannot attend in person.

A closed room meeting would be anti-democratic and a public health hazard. Please respect our first line workers and health care workers by having an online forum to decrease the spread of Covid-19.. Also, we need to mitigate gun violence, another public health epidemic..

Indian Hill's website indicates all I.H. council/committee meetings are remote as approved by HB197. Symmes should be treated accordingly. There is no rational for requesting anything other than remote - if they can do it (including cancelling july 4 parade) so can Symmes. Remote please.

I would like to attend meeting, however, due to my age and medical issues, would not be able to if meeting is held in a closed venue.

Marvin Tibbetts At this time with the threat of the Virus being transferred, all meeting should be on line and easily successful to all.
