Job's Daughter Members, MM, Adults Against 2019 Proposed Supreme Amendments

As a PHQ and PBG I am appalled by these amendments. What do the people who proposed these amendments fear? It does not matter if a member transitions from female to male, their contributions to JDI stand. You cannot erase history, you cannot erase these members. JDI is setting itself up for three things 1) Showing itself to be a bigotted order 2) Having to defend itself (with the daughters hard earned money) from lawsuits 3) Losing all credibility and folding like a deck of cards.

I have been involved with jobies for the past 14 years of my life. The world is changing we shouldn't deny people the opportunity to experience this type of love and acceptance, nor should we deny anyone the rights and titles earned previously.

To strip the titles of any person that has given their time and service to this organization because we do not agree with their life choices is a slap in the face to them and every person that opposes this amendment. We are supposed to be better than this. If our organization does not leave behind their archaic ways of thinking, it will be left behind. These amendment will not just drive away the support of it's past members. It will drive away current active members. It will drive away new prospective members and their parents. This amendment will destroy every attempt that has been made to save this organization from extinction. I urge the leaders of this organization to listen to the girls and actually take their opinions into account. We are a youth-run organization, are we not? Without the girls, this organization would not have a reason to exist. It's time for the adult leadership to understand this and do what they took an oath to do. To support and guide our girls, not to make the decisions for them under the guise that they know what is best.

I'm a PAGG from VA. We need to be supporting our most vulnerable members when they need us most, not pushing them away. I suggest a secondary amendment to allow transitioned members an automatic Majority, like we do with members who become pregnant.

Discrimination has no place in JDI. We are here to promote youth development and to mentor their success. Not socially police who they are or who they choose to be. Diversity and inclusion should be a deep values of our organization in practice and policy. We have a diversity statement and policy that leaves it to Bethels to create safe spaces, and JDI should leave it at that. We cannot afford to legislate division and exclusion.

I am a PHQ, MM and PGG. I think these amendments are disgusting. I know trans men and women. And what they go through is already hard enough. To take away what they have earned is just another slap in the face. Let’s try for inclusion and love instead of phobia. If I was still a CAV adult I would attend session just to vote against this.

I am a PHQ and MM from Bethel 22, Wisconsin. Job's Daughters has absolutely helped to shape me into the person I am today. I have gained so much from this organization. However, I am frankly disgusted by this blantant showing of transphobia. I will not be having any daughters I may have join an organization that does not support the LGBT+ community.

As a PHQ and MM of Bethel #52 Boise I am appalled that the organization that I loved that promoted love, acceptance, and being your best self would suggest this legislation. Telling these youth that all their work, time, and effort is no longer appreciated and their honors stripped like a punishment for being who they are is not what Job’s Daughters is about. If passed I will seriously consider keeping my own girls from becoming members as they will not joint an organization that allows for discrimination.

PHQ #42 IN I believe that no matter what position in life a young woman is in, whether she is transitioning or bi-nary they should not be shunned from our amazing organization.

There’s no reason for this legislation. All it does is perpetuate hate. All individuals should have the rights to hold their titles, and display them proudly, however they choose. They earned them—and no one can ever take that away. Love always wins—and if we learned nothing else through Job’s Daughters, it’s the love we share with our Sisters—and the greatest lesson we all learned from Job is love. I’m a proud PHQ, MM, RDRP, MOH, PBG, PGG and PBOT (I’m sure I’ve left something out)—and the very proud parent of a non-binary youth who never joined Job’s due to my concerns about garbage just like this.
