With the old Fort Regent swimming pool laying dormant and derelict we should turn it into an Ice-Rink. The community benefits would be massive. Great place to learn to skate, to compete, to discover a beautiful combination of art and sport, to watch home grown ice-shows, touring ice-shows, to enable couples to learn and perform ice-dance, for sports fans to learn ice-hockey and to watch exciting ice-hockey games! The silence from the planning office is persistent but that only means we have to keep pushing harder. I have spent the last few days meeting with local groups who agree that Fort Regent is rotting away while a rink could bring life back to the space.

Seeing this momentum gather is exhausting but it keeps me fueled to see the path forward. People are finally looking at that empty space and seeing a future instead of rot.

so many memories of that place. be nice to see life brought back to the fort instead of letting it rot.

Fort Regent has been a dump for years. Fix it up and give the kids something to actually do on this island.
