Some of you may not be aware that the incoming 5th grade class at James Fallon has 81 students currently enrolled. What this means to our children is more students to a classroom. Our children can be in classes of 27 or more per teacher.
The Institute of Education Sciences, the research arm of the US Department of Education, concludes that class size reduction is one of only four, evidence-based education reforms that have been shown to increase student achievement through rigorous, randomized experiments--the "gold standard" of research.
Reducing class size, particularly in the early grades, is one of the very few educational strategies proven to increase the learning and narrow the achievement gap.

Our kids future depends on their education and 5 grade is a critical and very important transitional step into elementary school, please give them what they needs and have one more class. Thanks and your consideration and cooperation are greatly appreciated
Fifth grade is an important year for our children as they get ready for middle school. If we get more students as the year goes on, this number will only grow. We want our students to get the attention they need and our teachers to have a manageable classroom. Wayne needs to maintain its status as a top notch school district.
This is an important year for our children as they prepare to go onto middle school. A class size that large is detrimental to their learning and the teachers' outcomes. Please help our children and the teachers have a successful year!
Please, think of the children and class size as it is important. Not only for the children But for the teachers success in teaching our children. To many students in a classroom effects the teachers teaching ability as well as childrens learning success.
The school's administration and BOE are there to advocate for our kids' interests. Even though the class size is within law requirement of 28 kids per class, the quality of learning process is compromised. Every effort and opportunity to improve the quality of teachers' work teaching our children must be utilized. Less children in class will help teachers to have much better outcomes - it is a well known fact. 27 kids in a class is a borderline that will decrease the outcomes of the hard work that the school does. We all can read and understand laws and legislations. There is no need for BOE's member to explain to me the law or to justify that rule for me. Administration and BOE are there to protect population's interests within that law!
I feel strongly with an additional fifth grade class as is ill benefit and maximize the learning of our children.
I feel very strongly that an additional fifth grade class is definitely needed to benefit and maximize the learning of our children.

Although the email response said we are within the legal 28 students, is that what we really want to start doing in our town? The reason our schools are highly regarded is the quality of education. At 27 students, mainly 10 years of age, how can 1 teacher be able to fulfill all the needs. This will have a serious negative effect on our teachers and children. I am asking the Administration and BOE to please sit down with the parents and come up with a solution for our children.
