The truth finally came out and Jake has been held accountable for his actions. This victory belongs to everyone who refused to stay silent while he tried to hide behind empty words. We won because you kept the pressure on and proved that his power does not put him above …

So Jake "apologized"..

We do not accept this "apology", we were not asking for only an apology for the "impact of his words". They are actively trying to silence us by only acknowledging and apologizing for inappropriate language. We didn't expose ourselves in our testimonials to thousands of people for this offensive "apology". The fact that they are deleting the comments that don't suit their side of the story and then blocking the people who posted them rather than turning the comments should truly show you who we are dealing with. Also putting up promotional posts after to make this go away.. I hope it infuriates you as much as it does for his victims.

Please send this petition far and wide, until we figure out our next steps it is one of out most powerful tool. Below is our original post and a link to the testimonials.

THANK YOU for all of your support this far, please keep speaking up for us in anyway you can.

We have created this petition for the victims of Canoe and Paddle's General Manager Jake Exton.

We would like him to publicly acknowledge and take responsibility for subjecting staff to verbal harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault and misconduct, wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal, and provide a public apology.

This petition is for anyone effected by this behaviour personally, witnessed, or supports and believes the women that have came forward.

Many of us have been carrying this for years.

Please don't allow this to happen to anymore women or men in our community.

Jake we hope you choose to listen, understand, and grow from this.

Seeing these one hundred names gives me so much strength after watching them try to sweep our experiences under the rug. This is proof that people are finally listening to what happened to us and refusing to be silenced by these empty corporate tactics.

Seeing this level of support confirms that we are not alone in wanting real accountability. Watching these stories gain this much traction gives me hope that we can finally force them to face the truth instead of hiding behind empty statements.

Totally inappropriate and unacceptable. Our kudos to the women who are speaking up about this as I sure it takes a lot of courage. I won’t be doing business there or at their other family store in town until they accept responsibility, apologize and change their approach with women because it’s 2021!!!

I've worked for guys like this before, and I wish I had stood up about it. People like this don't deserve to have people employed under them.

No one should have this kind of control over another human. His sense of entitlement to women's bodies is horrific and he needs to be held criminally responsible for what is characterized as "sexually aggressive" but is actually "sexual assault" and a crime.

I will not be going to the canoe and paddle until this has been properly resolved. Jake's abuse is now very public, and he should be removed from ANY role at the canoe and paddle.

I don’t know anyone directly affected but I stand with the women who were affected. Eating there a couple of times I observed a strange aggro male energy between employees at the bar. Aggressively talking and saying openly chauvinistic things to other staff members. It felt weird at the time and now I see that his may have been normalized...

Take accountability. I’ve worked for people who treat women this way in the past, and I know how demeaning it is and how much it eats away at you. I have so much sympathy for the women who have had to deal with this same kind of inexcusable behaviour.
