माननीय प्रधानमंत्री महोदय
भारत सरकार, नई दिल्ली।
सल्लेखना/संथारा आत्म हत्या नहीं अपितु अन्त समय तक धर्म साधना करना है।
सल्लेखना/संथारा के मूल सिद्धान्त प्रक्रिया व उद्देश्य को समझे बिना माननीय राजस्थान उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा हाल ही में पारित निर्णय संपूर्ण जैन धर्मावलम्बियों की धर्म साधना पर गंभीर आघात हैं। अनादि-अनन्त समय से स्थापित जैन धर्म एक अत्यन्त वैज्ञानिक धर्म है। जैन धर्म के सूक्ष्म से सूक्ष्म जीव व प्रकृति पर भी किसी भी प्रकार की हिंसा की भावना का भी कोई स्थान नहीं है। जैन धर्मावलम्बी स्वयं पर अथवा किसी अन्य पर किसी प्रकार की हिंसा नहीं करतेएवं आयु पर्यन्त अनुशासित जीवन जीते हैं। एक जैन साधक आयु पर्यन्त अपनी आत्मा की शुद्धि व कर्मो की निर्जरा के लिये साधना करता है। भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 21 व 25 में प्रत्येक भारतीय को अपने धर्म की पालना के साथ जीवन जीने का पूर्ण अधिकार प्राप्त हैं। जिसने जन्म लिया है उसकी मृत्यु होना एक शाश्वत सत्य है। नश्वर शरीर के शिथिल होने की स्थिति में जीवन के अन्तिम क्षण तक धर्म साधना के साथ जीना ही सल्लेखना/संथारा है। मृत्यु की कल्पना से विचलित होने के स्थान पर अन्तिम सांस तक धर्म साधना करना, भारत के किसी भी कानून में निषिद्ध नहीं है। ऐसी धर्म साधना को आत्म हत्या या कुप्रथा के नाम पर प्रतिबंधित करने का आदेश जैन धर्मावलम्बियों के मूल अधिकारों का हनन है, जिसे जीओ और जीने दो के मूल सिद्धान्त के साथ जीवन जीने वाले अल्पसंख्यक, अहिंसक व शान्तिप्रिय जैन धर्मावलम्बी किसी भी अवस्था में बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकते और उसका घोर विरोध करते हैं।
सल्लेखना/संथारा की धर्म साधना करने का उद्देश्य जीवन को समाप्त करिने का नहीं होता, उसे ना तो आत्म हत्या का प्रयास कहा जा सकता है और ना ही इच्छा मृत्यु की संज्ञा दी जा सकती हैं। सल्लेखना/संथारा एक व्रत है जिसे साधक स्वयं अपनी इच्छा के अनुरूप व अपने सामथ्र्य के अनुसार धर्मशास्त्रविहित प्रक्रिया के अनुरूप धारित करता हैं। अनादि अनन्त समय से जैन श्रावक/श्राविका तथा साधु साध्वियों द्वारा की जा रही धर्म साधना को स्वतंत्र भारत देश में अपराध नहीं माना जा सकता। जैन साधक आयु पर्यन्त जिस सिद्धान्त पर अमल करता है उस धार्मिक क्रिया की पालना करने से उसे जीवन के स्वाभाविक अन्त समय में वंचित नहीं किया जा सकता। सल्लेखना/संथारा जैसी आवश्यक धार्मिक क्रिया को प्रतिबंधित करने का स्पष्ट आशय धार्मिक कार्य की पालना को प्रतिबन्धित करने का है जो किसी भी अवस्था में स्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता और ना ही केन्द्र सरकार व राज्य सरकार को इसे स्वीकार करना चाहिये। यह आवश्यक है कि भारत के प्रत्येक नागरिक के संवैधानिक अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिये सरकार भी वे सभी आवश्यक कार्य सम्पन्न करें जो उनके मूल अधिकारों की रक्षा में सहायक हों।
भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 25 में धर्म स्वीकार करना, धार्मिक प्रवृत्ति/व्यवहार करना तथा धर्म प्रचार करना प्रत्येक भारतीय का मूल अधिकार हैं। अतः सल्लेखना/संथारा जैसी धार्मिक क्रिया को जैन धर्मावलम्बियों के संवैधानिक अधिकार के प में स्वीकार किया जाना चाहिये।
अतः संपूर्ण जैन समाज की ओर से ज्ञापन प्रस्तुत कर निवेदन है कि कृपया सभी संबंधितों को निर्देशित करावे कि जैन धर्मावलम्बियों को संविधान में संरक्षित उनके मौलिक अधिकार से वंचित करने की कोई कार्यवाही किसी भी स्तर पर ना ही जावें।

It should be immediately be clarified in parliament by law ministry that sanlekhna/ santhra under the supervision of Dharam guru is not sucide.
Santhara/Salekhna is much powerful of our soul purify and heartbeat of our Religious and also to others. For Example Sri Lokenath Baba, Sri Lal Baba, Sri Ram Krishna Paramhans and Maa Sarada also taken the Santhara/Salekhana not taken the Suicide it's a Tuff way to purify the soul in other word you say the "MOKCHA". We.the Dimapurians of Nagaland.may be.only 2,000 in nos. But we all vehemently oppose this unnecessary ban on Sallekhana which has become hindrance to the basic tenet of our religion of leaving this earthly life in peace & prayers According to the court verdict, Lord Mahavira & all other pious souls have been dragged down to the level of a criminal under the eyes of Indian courts Plz revoke this decision at the earliest lest it provokes the Jains of the world to protest in further forms of sacrifice beyond the bandhs & refraining from attending schools, colleges, services by 50 Lac Jains on 24th August'15 & shaving of heads by more than 10,000 Jains
