I'm a alum of ISU and have always been fiercely proud to call myself a Redbird. However, $16 in today's economy is not enough to provide stability to people and their families. Furthermore, it is unconscionable to do so when, as Vidette reporters astutely noted, the university seems capable of paying exorbitant salaries to some administrators, and then asks alumni and donors to foot the bill for other expenditures.

It is utterly appalling the way this school is treating our support staff. If it wasn't for the hard work of our support staff, our university would not be running smoothing, if it was running at all. If we can afford to give president Dietz a bonus each year, I'm sure we can find the money to pay our support staff a livable wage

It's rather "rich" for the University to be asking not just alumni but also current students, faculty AND staff for contributions when they show such contempt for the people doing the hardest jobs on campus. Clearly those charged with protecting the ISU brand must see how poorly it reflects on the institution when they shower executives with hefty salaries and regular raises while forcing workers, hovering at the poverty level, to beg for crumbs. It's time they do right by the workers who make this place a great place to be.

If you work a full time job, you should be able to feed your family.

As an alumnus, ISU won't get any of my money until they start paying ALL staff adequately.

As a former student and employee, I fully support a fair contract and wages for the staff who deserve a living wage.

I get your alumni donation calls, but I'm not going to fund your warped priorities.

ISU should do what's right. And not a modest 5% raise. All workers should be bumped to a full living wage.

Our support staff is amazing and deserves a living wage.

When new workers are hired on making more than someone who has almost 20 years in, there is a HUGE problem!

I wonder how isu is going to handle the lack of future donors if they continue to shove this generations wishes to the wayside.

These workers keep ISU functioning. Without them our university would crumble. They deserve a living wage. Pay them.

#FairContractNow We must pay our clerical workers and faculty a reasonable wage, especially when athletics makes so much more. Let's make our school #RedbirdProud.

It is absolutely sickening to me that this is going on at ISU. Your attempts to frame this as a "budget issue" are as transparent as they are poisonous. There is absolutely no excuse. We pay you through the nose in tuition and fees. We put ourselves in debt to attend school, and then after graduation we donate boatloads of money back to the school. We are the source of your money, and thus the source of your power. And we will not stand for this. I, for one, will not be continuing at ISU next autumn if this issue is not resolved, and I will use every avenue available to me to convince others to do the same. If you want to continue reaping the benefits of alumni donations, student tuition and fees, and good public standing, you will pay ALL of your staff a REAL living wage of $25 or more.
