This petition is to request permission to be granted for certified ISR Instructor, Mary Allen to hold ISR lessons at on-base pool locations. These are not traditional swimming lessons! The skills students obtain through these lessons could save their lives if they find themselves in a body of water alone. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 4, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14. These lessons equip children 6 months and older with the skills to roll onto their back and float, rest, and breathe until help comes, or swim to safety if possible. Fully clothed if necessary! These lessons being made available on base would mean an invaluably higher level of safety for countless military children, and peace of mind for their parents. Thank you for your support!
