We request that each Roseville Area Schools elementary student receive daily physical education instruction – 150 minutes/week for the entire school year – as recommended by the Physical Education SOARC Discovery Report (approved by the District Curriculum Advisory Committee and School Board) and in accordance with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education guidelines.

We do not support the cuts in physical education instruction (decrease in overall time and frequency) that have already occurred in several Roseville Area elementary schools in 2010-2011.

We also oppose a decrease in overall specialist instruction time and ask that principals strive to achieve optimal student instruction in physical education and the arts.

We recognize that the Roseville Area Schools administration has responded to parents’ concerns about the proposed specialist scheduling changes for next year, which mandated a district-wide decrease in physical education instruction time.  We appreciate that a new plan is being formulated.

Totally agree. Daily gym is essential for healthy habits that last a lifetime. Stop cutting these programs!

Seems like the board forgot that exercise helps kids focus in the classroom too. Bad decision.

Kids need to move! Sitting at a desk all day is just not natural for an elementary student.

150 mins is the national standard for a reason. Why are we falling behind??

Stop taking away the time kids actually look forward to. PE is just as important as math.

My son loves PE so much and hates the days he doesn't have it. Bring it back!!
