One thousand people have finally pushed back against these cruel Irish dog pounds. The local authorities cannot keep hiding behind their five day slaughter rule while we demand they choose life over death.

The dog pounds think they can keep killing innocent animals quietly while we look away. We are nearing the one thousand mark so get this link to someone new right now to force their hand.

The Irish dog pounds are killing innocent dogs after five days and we are about to hit one hundred signatures to stop this slaughter. Do not stop now because these animals do not have time on their side. Get this link in front of everyone you know right now so we can force these officials to end this bloodbath.

There is something seriously wrong were a society thinks its right to put perfectly healthy animals to death just beause their owners hav failed them. We need rehoming centres not kill shelters ... come on Cork show some bloody compassion

Many were rehomed in the UK until the ridiculous passport/rabies legislation. These are gentle fabulous dogs who've made wonderful pets. Sort yourselves out please and find a solution!

Some pounds don't even post dogs up online. Being invisible they have no chance of being rehomed/reunited/rescued. The Government needs to set rules that all pounds must adhere to. This killing has to stop.

All these dogs should have a chance to live. 5 days is not long enough to rehome or find the owners.I would go mad if my dog went missing and was too late only to find it had been murdered.

Five days is far to short a period for (a) owners of a list dog to find out which pound their dog is in or (b) to give time for potential new owners to be checked and to prepare for taking the dog to its new home. One month would be far better.

I,ve got a dog from the pound in Ireland got him brought over at Christmas it is a shame that this happens people cause this by not neutering their dogs it should be made compulsory if not a registered breeder
