IPF Exec - Reverse Decision to Add Belts to Approved Equipment List

I had to buy a new belt just a few months ago to meet the original IPF requirements for my first meet, now I have to buy another? This is cronyism. It's totally unfair to lifters who already have to pay so much for gym memberships, equipment, food, training, membership dues, registration fees, supplements, etc.

Small businesses are getting screwed. It cost almost $4,000 to get your product on the "approved list". They are creating a monopoly for crap belt makers with money (well, actually they just sell belts made in Pakistan) like Inzer and Titan. The smaller businesses who actually make quality products are getting the shaft with this legislation, not to mention all the lifters who have already purchased belts, or even the other products that aren't on this bogus list. This petition is a good start, but I think we all need to expose this crap all over the internet, write letters and bug the shit out of the IPF until they reverse this decision.

Adding barriers to entry is certainly not the best way to attract people to the sport in particular for raw/classic

Please reconsider the belt and singlet limitations. Very difficult for recreational lifters to replace expensive equipment on a whim. Thanks!

I have a brand new 10mm Inzer Forever Belt with no logo that I can not use. you have got to be joking.

Belts and singlets that meet specifications should continue to be the rule... not specific companies. This rule has worked all this time, why change it? The costs all fall on the people that love the sport already, why force more costs to the athletes?

I've spent close to $200 on two belts I use for competition. With this rule neither of them would be allowed simply because of the brand. One is a 3" belt, a size not even offered by any of the approved manufacturers so I wouldn't have any way of replacing it.

A powerlifting belt is one of the most treasured possessions of each lifter, they take years to bed in, soften and shape to your body. I personally have two belts. One is at least 8 years old, the other was passed onto me. I am the 3rd lifter to use it and its 30+ years old. It doesnt have any make or any logo, but its supple and a fantastic belt. If this ruling is passed it will be consigned to a dusty shelf
