A belt is the most fundamental of all training aids . I have had mine for 25+yrs and ( in my opinion ) not only does it meet with SPEC but it is a superior / better made belt than those of the `mass produced` to-date . Shame on you IPF for brininging commercialism into what is/was the last bastion of honest sporting endeavour.

It is just insane, that you need a specific brand of belt. As long as it meets some visual qualification such as width

Gear should have defined specifications based solely on design and material and if gear meets the specification the lifter should be allowed to use the gear. the lifter should not be forced to buy specific brands solely to benefit the sponsors who have paid to be on the approved list.

While I'm not currently registered with Powerlifting Australia (our IPF affiliate) - this is seriously making me rethink whether I should. From the head of PA himself it seems that shoes will be next. It has to stop.

I don't support this. If some of company can make money without competition. Their products will have worse and worse quality.

The inital outlay to commence powerlifting competively is already enough. I have spent well over $500 in my first year of powerlifting just to get all the correct gear and be rigistered with all the appropiate associations. I know of people that just can't afford to compete due to the costs of gear and competitions. We want to be encouraging the growth of the sport we love, not pricing people out of the sport.

I totally agree! I have not been using my singlet and belt for even 1 year as I have just started with powerlifting - and now I should spent even more money and throw the current ones away?? Powerlifting is a sport that is not being as famous and promoted as weightlifting or other sports, and this is going to put people off even more.Instead of trying to attract more people - especially women as there are not so many - , IPF is doing exactly the opposite.

Always loved the low barrier to entry for competitive powerlifting compared to other sports. Would hate to see that go away.
