this is a petition which we hope you may look at and give consideration to, as we feel the country needs a champions class ,for instance in the trimmed breeds it is very difficult for a newcomer to compete with the better trimmers this can take ten to fifteen yrs to learn,It works in other country`s please can we give it a go here as we all feel it will improve entries and give others a chance. time and time again we are losing people from this sport never to be seen again, most top winners are certainly worthy of multiple cc`s but over the yrs we have seen other good dogs/bitches exported because they cant get past the big winner so not only are we losing exhibitors we are losing some bloodlines too.

Updates

November 13, 2014

I was looking at the old show records today and thinking about all those dogs exported just because the competition felt locked away from everyone else. It is honestly exhausting to see talented people walk away after a few seasons because the system feels like a closed door. I have been fielding so many messages about the frustration in the grooming rings lately and I really believe we can find a way to make this fair for the newcomers.

November 13, 2014

I really thought this might just float around in the void but seeing so many people agreeing that we need a better way forward for the newcomers is genuinely surreal. It keeps hitting me how many people are frustrated by the exact same hurdles with the trimming classes and I am just so glad we are finally talking about how to save these bloodlines before they disappear for good.

To have a Champions Class would encourage more good quality dogs to be entered in shows and not be prevented from becoming Champions by the owners who want to get as many CCs as are on offer for their breed. The situation is worse when a breed has fewer CCs available. This is an obvious solution to halt the increasing decline in Championship show entries. I started showing 41 years ago and am seriously thinking of giving it all up. I am sure that many others feel the same.

Great idea in principle, however coming from an FCI show world I do think that the Champions should only be able to compete for BOB and not the CC. Some judges only look at the CH class when awarding top honours so this causes the lesser classes to overlooked just my opinion. This works in in some European Countries.

I hugely agree that something has to be done to improve the entries pf particularly the trimmed terrier breeds in the uk. Entries are particularly low in these classes, and good dogs that are up against champions just arnt getting a look in, which is very off putting considering all the time money and effort being put in by exhibitors. I. genuinely do feel having a champions class in the uk would improve entries and give new comers to the breed a better chance of getting there dogs made up, when they otherwise wouldnt.

know what it's like to compete against dogs with 29 & 25 CCs. These two dogs have dominated my breed over the last few years giving little opportunity to others to get a CC never mind being made up.

Having exhibited in Netherlands I think we should give the champions class a trial period..

we have all seen the runaway dog and bitch, often very much deserved in most cases but, often a worthy champion is denied because some judges are not morally strong enough to break the run if a better specimen is put in front of them
