We the undersigned being members of a Dogs SA sign this petition to stop the introduction of the Champion Class being introduced as a mandatory class in the Australian Dog Show Conformation scene. The survey which was presented by Dogs Australia was poorly worded and even worse was the communication to the members and the member bodies.

The responses to the survey indicated the lack of understanding of what was being voted on, and many members were either not provided with the opportunity to vote or provided with multiple chances to vote. Of the 25,261 votes sent out only 3,643 were returned.

I put my heart and soul into supporting the dog show community and I’m terrified that this champion class will completely destroy dog shows I am all for positive change, but there is nothing positive about this class being introduced

Absolutely against the introduction of the champion class, it downgrades what a champion means, it means lesser quality dogs can be bred. And I do not believe it will retain people showing as once they get the 100 points they are in the same boat as they would have been.

A champion title is not hard to achieve - not enough judges have the courage to deny a challenge Once a person has more than one titled dog then they would have to compete against themselves, find multiple handlers etc. So goodbye to folk entering multiple dogs, entries go down even further. Obviously no one actually thought this through

The questions were loaded to support a predetermined outcome. Many members did not receive the survey, there was no explanation offered by the Member Bodies prior to being sent the email. This proposal will further reduce entries as those with more than one champion enter less dogs

Badly worded and executed. Introduction will see further reduction in exhibit numbers possibly leading to smaller regional clubs becoming financially insecure or resulting in their demise.

Do not feel the championship class is of any benefit the failing numbers. Not every member got the email and had the chance to vote. A lot of older members are not familiar with online voting so couldn’t complete it.

Transparency on all aspects of the proposal was not made available in the initial vote, making the results invalid.
