At Concordia University, international students are forced to pay for mandatory health insurance provided by Blue Cross with no alternative options. In addition, annual premiums increase without proper explanation, thereby creating a financial burden for foreign students who could otherwise find more affordable alternatives elsewhere. This petition serves as a statement to the International Students Office at Concordia University that international students are taking a stand and refusing to pay the annual health insurance premiums until both a proper explanation for the increases is provided and an option to decline university-provided health insurance is granted. International students are prepared to pay all tuition student fees EXCEPT for the total of $1,099 until we are given fair treatment and the right to choose the health insurance plan that is right for us.

I am currently organizing the accumulated data on premium hikes to include in a formal letter to the International Students Office. My focus is on securing a meeting with the administration to demand an opt-out provision for these insurance plans.

The volume of support has reached a level that the International Students Office can no longer ignore. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the administration to request a meeting regarding these insurance premium increases and the lack of alternative coverage options.

Why are we being forced into one plan? Let us pick our own insurance if this one is too expensive. We need real options.
Seriously, the amount of money has increased about 60% these years. It's really a huge portion for international students who don't have a good income. And we still have to pay more tuition fees than the locals.
Either a cogent explanation is given or the option to seek medical insurance elsewhere is introduced .
International students should be allowed to choose their health insurance plans.
I'd like the university to help student by lowering the mandatory cost or at least give an explanation for their raise
Don't like paying 1000$ for insurance, simple as that.
