We, residents and school families of Layan Community, The Sustainable City, and Fairgreen International School, request that the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) install a designated pedestrian crossing across Al Waha Street between Layan Community and The Sustainable City. Daily foot traffic, including schoolchildren, parents with strollers, and elderly residents currently face fast‑moving traffic without a safe, legal crossing point. We ask RTA to deliver a signalised/zebra crossing (or Smart Pedestrian Signal, where feasible) consistent with RTA’s pedestrian safety programme and selection criteria (school proximity, pedestrian demand, incident risk, road classification).

Let’s please not wait for a serious accident to happen until we install a safe solution to cross the street between Sustainable City and Layan community.

There is a significant amount of foot traffic during busy periods in this area. Everyone living here would have seen multiple unsafe events caused by fast drivers and no clear area to cross the road by pedestrians.

This is needed to protect everyone coming in and out of the communities. The cycle track crossing isn’t sufficient as to get to the crossing from Layan children have to enter the road because there is a high ridge so if they are on bikes they have to enter the main road and then get on to the bike track. There is also no safe crossing in sustainable to get on to the bike track either.

The cycle paths out of Layan into sustainable city and surrounding areas is not sufficient, in fact more in the line of deadly, there is no safe passage for any pedestrians be it walking or cycling and the matter needs fixing.

Please assist us in providing a safe and convenient passage to school for our kids, many kids are crossing between traffic daily, kids as young as 5 years old that are riding their bikes to school. It is so dangerous

Please install a safe pedestrian crossing. We send our kids across every day - stressing that everyone will see them and stop.
