Inner City Boing Club is petitioning Southampton City Council to approve the takeover of St Mary's Leisure Centre, currently closed down. As a community club, ICB is the training home of over 800 children and adults form St.Mary's, Northam, Newtown and the Inner City area.
We, the undersigned, boxing fans and concerned citizens, believe that St Mary’s Leisure Centre belongs to the local community and as such should be used by the local community as a centre of sports and recreation. We urge our council leaders to approve the takeover of St Mary's Leisure Centre by Inner City Boxing Club.

I have been spending my mornings at the center staring at the empty halls and imagining our kits filling those rooms again. We are currently preparing a formal proposal for the council that highlights exactly how many of our neighbors need this space to stay active and safe.

Seeing one hundred people back our fight for the leisure centre proves that this community refuses to let our kids lose their home. I grew up in these streets and watching this support grow feels like we are finally reclaiming our space.

This is an excellent way of ensuring urban sustainability through grassroots community groups. Inner city boxing is the vibrant centre of a huge network people living in the centre of Southampton. It's well-run, inclusive and ambitious for itself and it's members.
Inner city boxing helped me train as part of UWCB. The guys there are professional, committed and doing more to help young people choose a good path in life than any government scheme. Better facilities and more room = more kids off the street learning a better life.
My son comes here 3 times a week and his attitude has changed so much for the better and he loves all the coach, it’s like one big family and you are made to feel like a part of it would definitely recommend to everyone of all ages have different classes so everyone can get involved
I've grown up going to this place, I worked her for many years, many people know me from my time there. I do not want this place to be turned into anything but use for the community.
The community deserves something back! And all the coaches who give up alot of time for the community deserve it!....time for the council to give back after yrs of taking

Great club Great coaches Keeps the kids off of the streets, st Mary’s needs more clubs like this to counteract boredom for kids, without this st Mary’s will continue to fall deeper into crime amd poverty I moved to Southampton from London and believe me st Mary’s isn’t far away from being like the deprived areas in London
