The city finally broke ground today at the site of our new stadium complex. Watching the heavy machinery move onto that field brought tears to my eyes because our kids will finally have the home turf they were promised. Thank you for staying in this fight with me until the …

ON FORWARD FOR AN ON-CAMPUS FOOTBALL STADIUM COMPLEX AT WHS! – HOME OF THE MIGHTY LIONS!

TO THE FAITHFUL SUPPORTERS OF AN ON-CAMPUS FOOTBALL STADIUM COMPLEX AT WILLIAMSON HIGH SCHOOL:

On May 26, 2021, the Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) approved a measure to start the process of construction for five (5) new football stadiums for high schools in the district. The Board unanimously voted to hire an architect to design five football stadiums on the campuses of: B.C. Rain, Davidson, LeFlore, Vigor, and Williamson High Schools.

As of now, every one of these schools has undergone construction near completion – EXCEPT WILLIAMSON! To be clear, GROUND HAS NOT YET BEEN BROKEN at WHS to begin construction!

Because funds have been legislated, allocated and earmarked for the building of our own stadium complex, we hereby petition the City of Mobile ( the rightful owners of the designated campus area for the placement of the stadium) and the Mobile County Public School System to expedite measures to begin construction of the WHS Football Stadium Complex immediately!

In the spirit of goodwill and continued, reliable partnership with the City of Mobile and the MCPSS, we present this proposal to further the development of facilitation of a stadium complex for Williamson High School in the historic Maysville district.

The following signatures, representative of students, parents, citizens of the Maysville community, and WHS Alumni, are indicative of the unified and unanimous support of this proposal.

I see the other schools in our district enjoying their new facilities while our students still travel miles away just to play a home game. The silence from the administration is deafening but we are documenting every delay to ensure they know we are paying attention.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of how much our stadium means to every student who walks the halls of Williamson. We deserve the same facilities promised to our peers and this outpouring proves that the community will not let our school be forgotten.

Seeing one hundred names on this list reminds me that the students of Williamson deserve better than waiting on empty promises. My heart is full knowing so many people see how vital this stadium is for our community.

We shouldn’t have to do all this and it’s very unfair that no other school has beg and pled to get something done Williamson deserves there own stadium only school that made playoffs this year

This process began almost two years ago. It seems that you would have dealt with the ownership issue FIRST, not wait two years! That puts our stadium behind by two years. And who suffers? The Kids. It's just not right.

As a former coach of Williamson High School. This is just another example of telling the students at Williamson High School. You’re not good enough!

Ladd will remain a constant expense because of it’s age! It’s not financially feasible for a high school to maintain the facility!

Please build us a new stadium! You don’t know what the effect will have on those young men by giving them a forever home! Kids now can look at schools and say wow look at their facility or wow look at theirs. I’m a proud Alumni of The Lillie B. Williamson HighSchool and nothing would make us proud than coming to our own stadium and cheering those boys on!!

Our community needs all of our high schools! They are already overcrowded, we can not afford to lose school or athletic areas. Our tax dollars are being used backwards. Schools in areas considered lower income need MORE funding than those in high income areas. All schools should have equal academic opportunities and this means more funding to schools in lower income areas. If these children are given the same academic opportunities we can turn a low income area into a prosperous area.
