Since as early as the 1970's, there have been numerous instances of violence, drug abuse and sexual harassment in the Forest Preserves of Cook County, Illinois. The Forest Preserves were created in 1869 with the goal of allowing a space for people to relax and enjoy the beauty of untouched nature. Today, this goal is not being achieved due to the lack of surveillance and protection in the preserves. People are hurting others and conducting illegal activities in our own backyards which has caused a chain reaction of unfortunate events.
