We are wanting to increase the amount of the fine from 25 dollars to a minimum of 500. To many fellow drivers are killed everyday due to people who don't Slow Down And Move Over. We also want more enforcement of the law. We believe that it is a very important law but it does no one any good if it isn't enforced.
The stories shared here about dangerous highways prove why we need this change immediately. I am taking these signatures to the local transport board to demand stricter enforcement.

Just lost my son-in-law due to a driver not slowing down much less moving over. I want to see stiffer fines and/or jail time.

Thank yoy for this petition we need to raise more awareness. My husband has been a wrecker operator for 5 years and this past week we had a very close call to what could have been a fatality of him. please share and spread the word

This is the most important traffic law out there. Its sad that our lives are not worth more than 25 dollars.

There is nothing worth than civilians that think that they are above moving over for emergency vehicles. Not only does it make our job harder and our response exponentially longer, but it makes our job more dangerous with drivers refusing to pull to the right which in many cases could and does cause serious accidents.

I love a tow truck driver and want him to come home every night safe and sound. maybe a heftier fine will make people move over and slow down.

Unless the penalty is so severe that failure to Move Over or Slow Down is no longer an option, nothing will change. The fight to prevent deaths on our highways and byways needs a HUGE coalition to take up the fight. I will fight forever. www.natewalsh.net
