We are working to have our all natural, ready made meals available at hospitals throughout the Okanagan Valley. Staff, patients, and support people should have nutrient dense meals available to them during their time at the hospital. These meals will be available via frozen vending machines, and a percentage of profits will be donated directly to the hospital foundations, to help buy medical equipment.

There are already vending machines in these hospitals selling processed, non nutrient dense, junk food- wouldn't a real food option benefit everyone?

food is a lot of things; fuel, medicine, comfort. In a high stress and emotionally charged environment it is important to have nutritional options to power those very important decisions and critical moments.

This would be a great option!! I've had 2 surgeries over the last year at kgh and the food that is served is the worst, I had food brought in to me everyday and that crap they served me went to waste. its a bad program.

Sad that the hospital provides menu options that are SAD (Standard American Diet)! My husband's CHF/Diabetic/CVD issues are only further exacerbated by the idiocy of hospital meal plans that follow SAD and AHA/ADA recommendations.

I fully support this idea. With my dad being in the hospital for almost a year now I can see a great need for meals of this type. Not only for patients, but for visitors also. My mom visits my dad 3-4 times a day and does not eat properly due to unavailable healthy choices.

Would have loved to have the option of healthy meals when I was in hospital with my perm baby for over a week - my partner would've purchased them too as he stayed half of the time but would come after dinner as there were no options for him

Most definitely I approve. The hospital had nothing for me to eat for both pregnancies do food allergies. At one point I was brought a plate of plain carrots as that was all the had. Needless to say we had food brought in. Sabretooth would be a welcome gift!

I think it's a terrific idea! I was in KGH 4 years ago following a heart attack, and my wife has been in there the last 4 days, and despite the hospital food is actually delicious, dinner comes early and you have nothing till morning except for salty or sugar infused snacks from vending machines in the lobby! To have healthy varieties available after hours would be Paramount! To take things a step further, I think we should also go back to having specific farms produce meat, produce, and dairy for health facilities like we did at one time, for instance, tranquille farms in Kamloops used to produce for the mental health facilities on the same site, royal inland hospital, the provincial old men's home and a local jail. Also colony farms in cocquitlam produced for Riverview psychiatric, woodlands school, and royal Columbian hospital.

The toxic foods they provide at the hospital are detrimental to the healing of patients. The best thing we could do to speed up healing and support our sick people, is to improve the nutritional content of food at the hospital. Everyone knows this has been an issue for ages, and I'm glad someone is finally trying to do something about it! Come on KGH, get on board!
