I am truly overwhelmed by the messages you have sent me about how this laundromat will disrupt our quiet street. It feels like we are finally being heard because you all decided to speak up about our neighborhood.

As a resident of the Beach for close to 40 years I want to see it still maintain its charm. Brightly lit commercial spaces that are technically operating without proper clearance is the beginning of the end. Protect our Beach.
This is a slippery slope. We can't allow people to set up shop, and THEN try to get approval. The rules are there for a reason, and they need to be followed.
The process of opening this laundromat was done in an underhanded manner. Laundry rooms in several buildings were removed and tenants were directed to this new (illegal) laundromat. Businesses should not be allowed to backdoor the process of applying for business licenses. And tenants should not have their amenities eroded.

It sets a dangerous precedent to legalise businesses that start by defying the law. The people who do this should not be rewarded - it would just encourage others to do the same.
The same rules should apply to all.
A poor code of ethics can't necessarily be stopped but illegal activities harming our community can be.
