The Ida Cox Series of concerts held on the Main Street of downtown Toccoa is a community- centered and free event attended by a large crowd of citizens, typically held each Saturday June-August. The City of Toccoa has trimmed the event dates from 12+ down to 4, for the entire summer. This decision was made in a small meeting where a majority of businesses were not represented. At least 8 downtown businesses will be missing out on a decent amount of revenue because of this decision. The summer season is when help is needed, as business tends to slow down for everyone. These concerts help us make it through the season with less struggle, and we enjoy seeing our community out front enjoying themselves each evening. Having more shows down at the community theater does not bring in the revenue that the street-held concerts do. We are asking the city leaders to hear us and take this into account for the good of downtown, and for the sake of our community that enjoys these weekly events. We are in full support of The Historic Ritz Theater, and do hope they have successful shows with a full house each night! We just hope it's good for all of us that this change has occurred.

As a new resident this concert on the street was one of the reasons we chose Toccoa. You do not have the same sense of community in a closed theater and it is not convey to shop while still enjoying the music. Keep it on Doyle… I can see skipping August as it is so hot but all shows should be outside!
We do not enjoy the Idaho Cox performances when they are in the Ritz. We often take our young grandchildren and we all love to dance, play with toys and wander in and out of shops
Ida Cox needs to remain the full three month series downtown Our small locally owned businesses need the revenue and its a great way to get families to spend time in town. Families with small children are not likely to go to thr Ritz.
Should be at least 12 nights... because for one it supports the local businesses. But also because if you only have 4 and 2 get rained out how's that fun for anyone?? Give them 12!!
Ida Cox being held downtown ensures accessibility to the entire town. If the city wants to build the Ritz back up, start showing movies on a regular basis again, don’t hurt a fun tradition that brings in revenue for small businesses.
We have enjoyed and shared this series with family and friends while visiting NE Georgia for several years. I've even shared with our local downtown development board what a great opportunity it is for local businesses.
i look forward to the different music groups and seeing so many people come out.

We love going to the Ida Cox concerts. It's family friendly and people of all ages enjoy attending. It is a great event and I hope you reconsider and add more shows. This effects the whole community, especially the small businesses on Doyle Street that rely on income made during the concerts.
