To: Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development et al. We the undersigned request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and any other pertinent entities spare from destruction the 120- to 150-year-old live oak known as the "Mr. Al" oak. This sizeable live oak is located on public property along Highway 90 near New Iberia, Louisiana, and is registered with the Live Oak Society (tree #5915). We ask that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development et al. spare the tree by moving a proposed service road to a new location a short distance from the tree, so that building of the road does not require the tree's destruction.

That tree has been there forever. My grandfather used to talk about it when he would drive down to the coast. Dont cut it down for a road we dont even need.

The DOTD needs to get their act together. Just shift the road a little bit. It is not that hard.

My kids love that tree. Its a landmark for the drive to New Iberia. Stop the construction.

PLEASE save Mr. Al! We are losing too many of these beauties to construction. Once its gone it is gone forever.

Ridiculous that they would even consider taking this down. Put the road somewhere else.
