Texting and driving has become a major social issue around Massachusetts, causing car accidents, hit and runs, and other issues. As a student at the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers it was my job to take action on a social issue. In the community I live in everyone texts while driving and it is not safe. To make our communities safer I would like this petition to be signed by drivers to promise not to text while driving. In 2011, at least 23% of auto collisions involved cellphones, that's 1.3 million crashes. When you text and drive your eyes are off the road for about 5 seconds or more.
